Fun Portraits in Pastels

Although I am new to pastels and usually use many other different mediums it is fun to sketch portraits with them.

This painting was done in Prisma colored pencils. I used archival mat board to render this painting and once when it was put in the State Fair they thought it was a photograph and put it in with the photography.

My paintings and sketches can be categorized as photo realism. I specialize in wildlife, pets and people portraits as well as sea scapes and land scapes. Most of the time I use a combination of mediums such as watercolor, colored pencil, ink, acrylics and graphite in order to portray the tiniest of details and still have depth within the piece of art. I sketch using colored pencils, graphite, ink, or a combination of the three. I will post some examples of some of my work.
